Creativity fills the house at Botsford Briar

Shirley Botsford teaches in the Fashion Program at Marist College.  She has been involved in every aspect of sewing and needle arts and has worked as a professional in the home decoration, sewing, and craft fields.  The author of the popular book, Daddy's Ties and other publications, she lectures, gives workshops at quilt events across the country, and holds retreats for stitchers at Botsford Briar.  Her best-selling designer patterns are available from Simplicity Pattern Company.

Charles Fincham, a Beacon native, began his art career making one-of-a-kind bird houses.  After developing an interest in metal as a medium, he set up his own forge and started working in steel using blacksmithing techniques.  His hand-made art metal pieces feature realistic and floral motifs.  He creates custom gates, railings, and other architectural elements.  Frequently, salvaged metal provides the inspiration for the home accessories and sculptural objects that he makes.
